TET Syllabus and Question paper pattern


TNTET pattern is of Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions. One mark for each correct answer selected out of 4 options in each question. No Negative marking.

  • There are two papers:
Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes I to V. 
  • Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes VI to VIII.
A person who intends to teach both Classes I to V and VI to VIII will have to appear for both Papers I &II.

Child Development and Pedagogy (for Age Group 6 - 11) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30

Language I (Tamil) (for Classes I to V) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30 Marks

Language II (English) (for Classes I to V) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30 Marks

Mathematics (for Classes I to V) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30 Marks

Environmental Studies (for Classes I to V) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for30 Marks

Paper II Model:

Child Development and Pedagogy (for Age Group 11-14) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30 Marks

Language I (Tamil) (for Classes VI to VIII) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30 Marks

Language II (English) (for Classes VI to VIII) - 30 Multiple Choice Questions for 30 Marks

1. For Mathematics and Science Teachers - Mathematics and Science (for Classes VI to VIII)
OR
2. For Social Science Teachers - Social Science (for Classes VI to VIII)
OR
3. For any Other subject Teachers(for Classes VI to VIII) Either (1) OR (2) can be chosen - 60 Multiple Choice Questions  for 60 Marks
